RUSSIAN CENTER LAUNCHES THE YOUTH DEBATE CLUB

The Russian Cultural Center launched the Youth debate club which is aimed at providing young people with a platform where they can express their opinion about different topics in society. The initiative will also gives an opportunity to the youth to express themselves and learn how to use solid arguments in order to defend their opinion.

The first debate was held on 17th January 2019 in the Library hall under the theme “Transnational marriages in the 21st Century”, with two teams debating the motion “Are transnational marriages futile?”

The debate which involved the participation of students of Russian Language course at the center, was well attended by fellow students, Russian compatriots living in Zambia, Members of Zambia-Russia Alumni Association (ZAMRUS) and members of the general public.

The heated debate ended in favor of the opposing team. The debate plans to hold more debates at the Russian Cultural Center in the future.
